Downloads you can trust, part by part
Big files come down over several connections at once. Each 1 MB part is checked before it is kept, and a part that arrives wrong is fetched again. When you see Verified, the file is exactly what the server sent.

Questions, answered
Is VM Player free?
Yes. VM Player is free. It shows a small number of ads in lists and between screens, and never while a video plays, when you pause or when you press Back.
Which phones does it work on?
Android 7.0 and newer, on phones, tablets and Android TV.
Which formats does it play?
MP4, MKV, WebM, MOV, AVI, TS and streaming playlists (HLS), with AAC, MP3, Opus, AC3, E-AC3 and DTS sound and SRT, ASS and VTT subtitles. An optional extra engine opens rarer files.
What does Verified mean on a download?
VM Player downloads a file in small parts and checks each part before it is saved. When the file is complete it checks the whole file too. Verified means every part came through exactly as the server sent it. If a part is damaged, Check & repair fetches just that part again.
Can I watch while it downloads?
Yes. Open the download and choose Watch now. VM Player plays the parts that have already arrived and fetches the rest in the order you watch.
Can it download from YouTube or Facebook?
No. VM Player downloads files and streams from sites that offer them for download. It does not download from YouTube, Facebook or TikTok.
Why does it ask for access to my files?
To show your videos it asks for access to videos and audio. It asks for wider file access only when you use something that needs it: deleting or renaming, opening ZIP and RAR files, or the private folder.
What does it do with my data?
Your videos, history and downloads stay on your phone. Ads and crash reports use Google services. The privacy policy lists everything.
